Golf Studios in Cornwall Simulator Rooms Built Properly

Purpose-built golf studios for the garden, garage or outbuilding, with the ceiling height, floor build-up and power your simulator actually needs.

Golf Studios in Cornwall

A golf simulator only performs as well as the room it sits in. Too low a ceiling and you cannot swing a driver properly; a soft or uneven floor upsets the hitting mat; too little power or poor cable routing leaves leads trailing across the bay. Cornish Building Company designs and builds golf studios around the equipment you plan to use, whether that is a new building in the garden, a converted garage or an existing outbuilding.

We are a Wadebridge-based building company working across Cornwall, and we build golf studios to the same standard as our home extensions and new builds: solid foundations, a properly insulated structure and a finish you would be happy to spend hours in.

What a Golf Studio Build Includes

  • Site visit and set-out. We look at where the studio would go, access, ground levels and the space your simulator, screen and hitting area need.
  • Foundations and groundworks. A level, stable base is essential. Our groundworks and foundations team prepares the slab or base and any drainage.
  • Structure and height. Walls and roof are set out for the clear ceiling height a full swing needs, with room for the projector mount and enclosure.
  • Floor build-up. A flat, firm floor that keeps the mat true and suits the turf or hitting surface you choose.
  • Power and data. Electrics are planned around the projector, PC, launch monitor, lighting and heating, with cables routed neatly rather than added afterwards.
  • Insulation, heating and ventilation. So the room is comfortable and dry in a Cornish winter and protects your equipment.
  • Finishes. Linings, lighting, doors and any seating or bar area finished to your specification.

Design Considerations

Ceiling height and width. The single biggest factor. We will talk through your height, the clubs you use and your simulator supplier's guidance before anything is drawn.

Garden building or conversion? A garage or outbuilding conversion can be the cost-effective route if the space is tall enough; a new garden building lets you set the dimensions from scratch. We will look at both with you and recommend what gives the better studio for the budget.

Light and glare. Simulator screens work best in controlled light, so window placement and blinds are planned at design stage.

Noise. Ball strikes are loud. Acoustic linings help keep sound away from the house and neighbours.

Planning and Building Control. Requirements depend on size, height, position and use. We can advise on whether planning permission or Building Control may apply, and help with submissions if needed.

Dual use. Many clients want the studio to double as a garden office or home gym. We can design the layout so the space works for both.

Golf Studio FAQs

How much ceiling height do I need for a golf simulator? It depends on your height, swing and the equipment you choose. We check this against your simulator supplier's guidance at the first visit and design the building around it.

Can you convert my garage into a golf studio? Often, yes, if the height and floor area allow. We will assess the existing structure and tell you honestly whether a conversion or a new building gives the better result.

Do you supply the simulator itself? We build the room. Most clients buy the simulator and screen from a specialist supplier, and we plan the structure, power and mounting points around their equipment.

Will I need planning permission? Not always. It depends on the size, height and location of the building and your property. We can advise on whether planning or Building Control may apply.

Can the studio be used all year round? Yes. We insulate, heat and ventilate the building so it stays comfortable and dry through the year.
