Home Gyms in Cornwall — Garden Gym Rooms Built to Train In

Garden and garage gyms built around real training: floors that take dropped weights, ceilings that take a pull-up bar, and ventilation that keeps the room usable.

Floors, Ceilings and Fixings That Take the Load

A gym is a structural job before it is a decorating one. We build floors rated for racks and dropped barbells, reinforce ceilings and walls where rigs, bars and cable machines fix back, and set out heights before the linings go on.

  • Reinforced deck with rubber tile or sprung floor finish

  • Structural noggins and steel fixings for racks and rigs

  • Ceiling height set for overhead press and pull-ups

Ventilation, Heating and Humidity Control

Training rooms produce a lot of moisture. We specify mechanical ventilation and heating that clear humidity rather than trap it, so mirrors stay clear and the structure stays dry.

  • Extract or MVHR ventilation sized for the room

  • Electric or air-source heating with simple controls

  • Vapour control detailing throughout the build-upReinforced deck with rubber tile or sprung floor finish

  • Structural noggins and steel fixings for racks and rigs

  • Ceiling height set for overhead press and pull-ups

Noise, Mirrors and the Finish

Acoustic linings and isolated floors keep the noise off the house and the neighbours. Full-height mirrors, low-glare lighting, sound and screen provision are all built in rather than added afterwards.

Garden Build or Garage Conversion

We build standalone garden gyms and convert garages, outbuildings and barns across North Cornwall. We'll look at both options with you and recommend the one that gives the better training space for the budget.

Design Considerations

What you train. Olympic lifting, CrossFit-style rigs, cardio machines, yoga or spin all need different floor areas, heights and fixings. Tell us what you do and we will design around it.

Size and layout. Allow space around racks and bars, plus storage for plates and kit.

Dual use. A gym can share a building with a garden office, golf studio or outdoor sauna.

Planning and Building Control. Requirements depend on size, siting and use. We can advise on whether planning or Building Control may apply.

Home Gym FAQs

Can a garden gym floor take dropped weights? Yes. We build a reinforced deck and finish it with rubber tiles or a sprung floor to suit how you train.

Can I fix a rig or pull-up bar to the walls or ceiling? Yes. We add structural noggins and steel fixings where racks, rigs and bars fix back, and set ceiling heights for overhead work.

Is a garage conversion or a new garden gym better? It depends on your space, ceiling height and budget. We will look at both and recommend the better option.

How do you stop the gym getting damp? We specify ventilation, heating and vapour control so humidity is cleared and the structure stays dry.

Will I need planning permission? Not always. We can advise on whether planning or Building Control may apply to your project.
